Small Steps. Big Difference (Week 1) - Devoted

Series BIG IDEA:

Consistent, small steps often make the big difference.

By first giving my money to Jesus, I direct my devotion to Him.

We are all devoted to something. What we are devoted to determines our direction. If we change the devotion of our lives, we can change the direction of our lives. Our devotion makes a difference in the lives of others and is not something that can be divided. In order to change our devotion, we have to leave what we have been clinging to. We can tell what we are devoted to by looking at where we give. Giving directs our devotion. Giving first to Jesus is a discipline of His disciples, changes the attitude and character of His disciples, and is a difference maker in changing lives for the kingdom of God.

TALK IT OVER (Discuss One or More):

When you hear the words, “spiritual fitness” what comes to mind? How can someone know if they are spiritually fit?

Is devotion an emotion or something else? How can you tell what you are devoted to?

For where you treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21 (NIV)

Respond to the statement: My giving directs my devotion. How could changing your devotion change your direction?

How can giving change attitudes and character?

Consider closing your time together by asking God to strengthen your devotion to Him.
