At Westside, we believe you look more like Jesus when you serve others! If stepping out in faith to serve is your Next Step, we've got plenty of opportunities to help you do just that. From singing songs with children, welcoming new families, brewing fresh coffee, to managing social media, troubleshooting IT issues, assisting with administrative and communication needs, as well as many other areas of service that align with your talents and passion. Family Ministry

Our Family Ministry Teams partner with parents by teaching children about Jesus and biblical virtues. Opportunities to serve weekly or bi-weekly are available.

Check-In & New Family Welcome Team

This team welcomes families and helps them as they arrive. Our Check-In & New Family Welcome Team assists new families with registering their kids and informs them of our safety procedures. They help new families find their way to the correct classrooms and assist in answering any questions. The Check-In Team assists with the check-in kiosks and provides a friendly welcome to everyone that arrives.

SUNDAYS: One Service (Arrives 15-20 min before service starts)

KiDS Team Admin & Scheduler

Flexible times, helps send out postcards/flyers, helps file paperwork and input information into our computer data base, helps with scheduling of kids team leaders.

TIME: 2-3 hrs, any day between Sunday and Thursday

KiDS Team Social Media Coordinator

Helps manage the posts to social media sites using the provided curriculum, information, and images. Sets up scheduled posts and helps respond to any inquiries.

TIME: 1-2 hrs. during the week

EARLY CHILDHOOD (6 WEEKS OLD TO KINDERGARTEN)

Room Activity Leader

Leads activities for Babies, 1’s, 2’s, 3 & 4’s, PreK, or Kindergarten. Room Activity Leaders make sure kids are having fun and feeling loved. They reinforce the three basic truths to the children: that God Made them, God Loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Room Activity Leaders facilitate games, crafts, and other activities that are prepared for them. We provide each leader with all the materials they need so they can just show up and have fun while building relationships with the kids!

SUNDAYS: One Service (Arrives 15-20 min before service starts)

Clubhouse Storyteller

The Clubhouse Storyteller engages PreK & Kindergarten kids as they come into Clubhouse time. They bring fun and excitement for about 15 minutes while introducing the weekly Bible story, teaching the monthly memory verse and the Bottom Line. Story materials are provided in advance to the leader by the Children’s Curriculum Team.

Clubhouse Song Leader

This person leads the PreK & Kindergarten kids in one simple/fun worship song during their Large Group time. The song leader encourages the kids to sing, dance, and clap along while showing their love of God through music. The song leader learns the basic hand motions and words ahead of time. The actual time commitment during service is only five minutes which takes place during Clubhouse time. The songs/hand motions videos are provided in advance for the song leader to learn before Sunday.

SUNDAYS: One Service (Arrives 15-20 min before service starts)

Clubhouse Production

This leader makes sure tv’s, devices, & sound equipment is turned on and ready to go for Clubhouse time. During Clubhouse time, this leader uses the provided iPad to click on slides for songs and starts/stops videos that are used during Clubhouse time. Time commitment for this serving role is about 25 minutes during service.

Early Childhood Coach

A coach floats between all Early Childhood classes making sure leaders have what they need, assist with kids that might have extra needs or need extra snuggles. A coach might also help new families find their way around. The coach doesn’t need to have any experience as a Room Activity Leader, just a heart for meeting the needs of the leaders in the classrooms and assisting where needed.

Special Needs Buddy

Our buddies work one-on-one with any child that might require a little extra attention during the service time. They help children focus on the lessons, engage in the activities and, as needed, take breaks with them.

Helping Hands Prep Team

There are crafts to be prepared, games to organize, classrooms to set up and resources to gather each week so the leaders in the classrooms can show up on Sundays and focus on the kids without having to worry about all the details! This behind-the-scenes team is a crucial catalyst for organizing fun and engaging environments for our kids. Prep jobs will be available every Thursday in two shifts. If you are interested in this team but unable to come to the church building, some work can be completed at home and returned later in the week.

THURSDAYS: 9:00-11:00am or 1:00-3:00pm

GRADE SCHOOL (1ST-5TH GRADE)

Small Group Activity Leader

Small Group Leaders make sure the kids are having fun and feeling loved while leading the activities prepared in advance for 1st/2nd Graders or 3rd-5th Graders. They’ll be with the kids during the Large Group worship session and then break out into small groups to facilitate games, crafts, and other activities with their small group of kids. We provide each leader with all the materials they need so they can just show up and have fun while building relationships with the kids!

SUNDAYS: One Service (Arrives 15-20 min before service starts)

Grade School Storyteller

The Storyteller engages the kids as they come into Large Group time. They bring fun and excitement while introducing the weekly Bible story in creative and fun ways! This leader uses a script that is prepared and emailed to them ahead of time which has everything they need to make the experience fun. The time commitment during service is about 15 minutes.

SUNDAYS: One Service (Arrives 15-20 min before service starts)

Grade School Song Leader

The Song Leader leads the Large Group music time which normally consists of two songs with hand and body motions. The Song Leader encourages kids to sing, dance, and clap along to show their love of God through music. Song videos are provided in advance for the song leader to learn the music and motions. (Leader does not use a microphone.) The actual time commitment during service is about 10 minutes.

SUNDAYS: One Service (Arrives 15-20 min before service starts)

Grade School Production

This leader makes sure all projector & sound equipment is ready to go before Large Group time. During Large Group time, this leader runs the lyrics, videos (easy as clicking on the space bar!), and adjusts volume as needed. Commitment times for this leader is about 30 minutes during service.

Grade School Coach

The coach floats between the 1st-2nd grade area and 3rd-5th grade area. They support the Group Activity Leaders, assist with kids that might have extra needs, and assist with safely getting kids to and from the restrooms. Coaches also help new families in acclimating their kids. A coach doesn’t need experience as a Group Leader, just a heart for meeting the needs of the Room Leaders and assisting where needed.

Student Ministry

Student Ministry Event Coordinator

Working with the Student Director to help facilitate and communicate events. Help with vision casting and administration for Student Ministry events. Utilize social media and other communication tools to promote and generate momentum for Student Ministry events.

TIME: Varies based on event

Adult Leaders

Invest in Middle or High Schoolers’ lives by weekly attending the service to build relationships with the kids through group discussions and different opportunities. Choose which service where you’d like to serve.

Student Ministry Band

Weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning worship. Help lead the students in worshiping Jesus during the student services. Keyboard, Guitar, Bass, Electric, Cajon, Vocals.

Student Ministry Production Team

Creating visual and audible content and stylizing our service time. Lyrics, Lights, Audio Mixing, and Graphics.

Worship Arts

Our Worship Arts team creates weekend experiences to help people to connect with Jesus. They pursue excellence in their gifting and continually improve their skill.

MUSIC TEAM

Band

Band members rehearse weekly when scheduled. They will practice to improve their skill and the quality of the weekend music. Potential band members will audition.

Vocal Team

Vocal team members will rehearse per schedule. Participants will audition quarterly and will practice to improve their skill and the quality of the weekend music.

PRODUCTION TEAM

Audio Engineer

The Audio Engineer mixes the sound for the rehearsals and Sunday service. They make sure the sound system is up and that all instrumentalists and vocalists are heard.

Lyrics

Serve the weekend services by projecting the song lyrics and message notes in sync with the music team and teacher.

1st Impressions

New Family Hosts

Give new families a great first experience by making them feel welcomed and safe. Help them register their kids for check-in and escort them to the appropriate classroom.

Coffee Brewers & Coffee Hosts

Coffee Hosts are welcoming, hospitable and generous people who prepare our coffee carts and keep them stocked during the service. Their simple act of service communicates that people are accepted and raise our value of excellence. Baristas arrive early to make the coffee, ensuring a pleasant experience for all.

Parking Hosts

Guests will receive clear parking direction and warm smiles from our Parking Hosts. They help us get out of the parking lot just as quickly as we arrive.

Front Door & Community Room Hosts

We greet every guest with a smile. Door hosts love welcoming anyone and offer a hand and a smile. Door hosts also proactively pray for everyone as they enter.

Answer general questions, help people connect to groups and ministry opportunities, and distribute necessary information—all with a friendly smile.

Offering Hosts

Give people the opportunity to express their gratitude through giving by passing an offering basket in a friendly manner.

Section Hosts/Prayer Partners

Section Hosts make sure people seated in their section feel accepted. They are available to pray with anyone before and after the service they attend.

Every week there are many things that are done behind the scenes by people who are gifted in detailed work. From organizing to taking phone calls to managing systems, these people make the organization run smoothly.

This team makes sure the bulletins are assembled before the Sunday experience.

COMMUNICATIONS

Graphic Designer

For people who love to design inspiring and relevant digital content to support series and ministry efforts. This person needs to be able to use Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. They will create graphics for HDTV, print, and web while maintaining the Westside branding.

TIME: Based on project.

Layout Designers

Help create and populate the most accessible resources for our community. Layout designers need to be familiar with Adobe InDesign and able to keep the Westside brand standard.

TIME: 60 min each week (Prints are due on Thursdays at 12:00pm)

Content Editors

For those who are passionate about grammar and spelling. Editors also help get the content message across clearly and concisely.

TIME: As needed

Online Content Team

First time guests first check us out online. The Online Content Leader will make sure that our online presence is accessible, up-to-date, clear, and visually engaging. They will implement new content and modify content.

TIME: 60 min each week

Social Media Team

Social media is our opportunity to communicate to our followers about upcoming events, encourage them, and challenge them to take their next step. Westside Leavenworth has three major social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

TIME: 60-90 min each week

Online Content Creator

Inform Westsider’s of events and news through our weekly eNews and website blog.

TIME: 60 min each week

Photographers & Videographers

Capture Westside moments to help us share the story of what God is doing.

Video & Video Editors

Capture, create, and tell stories through video. Must be able to work with Adobe Premiere (or equivalent).


Facilities

IT Team

Become part of a dynamic, fun team that maintains and improves all things network-related. The team assists with projects such as cabling, servers, switches, firewalls, VoIP, Office 365, WiFi, Mac OS, Windows AD, and Systems Center administration. Ideal for experts in this field, or those who want to break into the IT world.

TIME: Varies

Facility Event Team

This team will coordinate the physical set-up and tear-down required for the variety of events held in our facilities.

TIME VARIES: 2hrs, 1-2 times/month

Clean Team

This team makes sure bathrooms are cleaned and stocked, floors stay dry, and trash cans stay empty in between services.

SUNDAYS: In between services

Weekday Facility Team

During the week, this team makes sure the facility is maintained and clean for any weekly activities. They also fix and install many things.

Groups and Next Steps

Group Leaders

Groups are where community and mission come together. Ongoing training will be available. Weekly “Talk It Over” discussion guides are great opportunities for new Group Leaders. Other resources and studies are available as well.

Prayer Team

Our prayer team loves to pray for people. Every Sunday several gather to pray for our services prior to people arriving. Others are available during the week to personally respond to the many prayer requests we receive.

First Steps Team

Our First Steps Team has the privilege of talking with people interested in “starting a relationship with Jesus.” They are available to answer questions and walk them through taking their first step of placing their trust in Jesus.

Community Impact

Foster Care Support

For those with a special interest in supporting Foster Care Families. Work to support these families or find out more information about becoming involved with Foster Care.

Care Portal

Receive emails that will inform you of opportunities where you can volunteer in meeting specific needs in our community. These needs could vary from helping with a funeral meal to assisting with transportation, to many other types of needs.

Alliance Against Family Violence

For those who have a heart for those in our community who have suffered from domestic violence. You will be presented with opportunities to help with these vulnerable families. Please note that a background check is required.

Shelter of Hope Volunteer

Shelter of Hope is the Leavenworth Homeless Shelter. We will coordinate the training. Volunteer to support a 2-3 hour shift approximately once every three weeks.
